Campus-Based Services
Instruction takes place primarily on the campus using classrooms, simulated environments and scheduled community outings.
Student schedules are individualized and developed based on each student’s identified needs and transition goals.
Transportation to and from the student’s home may be provided by the district, in accordance with eligibility and transportation guidelines.
Students participate in scheduled and structured travel training opportunities designed to explore and learn how to safely access and use public transportation.
Community-Based Services
Instruction takes place primarily in the community using job sites, grocery stores, public spaces, and local businesses.
Schedules may change on a daily or weekly basis to support individualized instruction and experiences.
Students receive regular, and in some cases daily, exposure to public transportation through the use of VIA bus, VIA Link, and VIA Trans to build independence and real- world travel skills.
Transition-Focused Education
18+ Services effectively address additional instructional needs in a more comprehensive manner, while aligning appropriate services for adult students and their families through collaboration and the strategic use of staff and resources, thereby supporting the transition to suitable postsecondary environments.
