About Mrs. Gomez

  • I grew up in Bulverde, and graduated from Smithson Valley High School. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Child Study and Language Development from Southwestern University, in Georgetown, Texas. After I graduated, I taught 1st grade in Bryan for one year. We then moved to Denton, Texas, where I taught 1st grade for four years, northwest of Fort Worth. We then moved to Norman, Oklahoma, where I taught 2nd grade for 2 years and 3rd grade for 3 years. While we were in Norman, I had the opportunity to complete an M.Ed. in Reading Education at the University of Oklahoma. We decided to move closer to home, and found ourselves in Katy, Texas for three years, where I taught 2nd grade for 2 years, and was the dyslexia intervention teacher and reading intervention teacher for one year until we moved home to San Antonio.

I joined the NEISD staff at Roan Forest for the 2015 - 2016 school year. For my first two years at Roan Forest, I served as a Special Education Co-Teacher supporting 4th and 5th grade. During the 2017 - 2018 school year, I was an English Language Arts Reading 5th grade teacher at Roan Forest. In 2018 - 2019, I was the 5th Grade Language Arts teacher at Tuscany Heights Elementary. In 2019-2020, I re-joined the Roan Forest Elementary staff as a 4th grade English Language Arts Reading teacher, and since then, I joined the Special Education team to be a Co-Teacher supporting 4th and 5th grade, and this year I will support 3rd and 5th grade as well as serve as one of the Special Education Grade Level Chairs.

Steven and I have been married for 18 years and have a fourth grader, David, and a first grader, Cristina, who are both in the dual language program here at Roan Forest. We are so excited to be able to raise our family in San Antonio, with our extended family close. Through all of our life travels, San Antonio has always felt like home.
