• Reagan High School is situated in the north central area of San Antonio, and celebrates it's 20th anniversary this year. The school has a rich fine arts tradition, with many national recognitions in all disciplines throughout it’s history. The orchestra is fed by two successful middle school programs: Barbara Bush, and Jose Lopez.

The Reagan Orchestra has eight performing ensembles. Five string orchestras meet daily over six class periods, and two full orchestras meet outside of the school day over the course of the year. The Reagan Symphony Orchestra annually performs a Young People's Concert for approximately 1500 elementary and middle school students within the cluster. The newest addition to our program is a harp ensemble, which meets once per week and performs at events around the district and surrounding area. Each of our orchestras prepares five concert cycles annually. Students are also offered weekly coaching if they choose to participate in TMEA Region and All-State Orchestra auditions, or UIL Solo and Ensemble. In addition to our musical pursuits, the directors work to develop the whole person through a variety of social and community service events through out the year. Kindness counts!

The Reagan Orchestra has enjoyed great success in competition, annually earning 40+ Region Orchestra seats for the last 6 years, as well as a number of All State students. Additionally, the ensemble annually sends an average of 70 events to solo and ensemble, with nearly half of those entries advancing to the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest. The Reagan Orchestra was awarded a Finalist Honorable Mention in the 2017 American Prize competition, and our Fine Arts Department musical was named “Best Overall Production” by the Las Casas foundation in 2019. In December of 2019, the Chamber Orchestra was honored to be invited to perform at the 73rd annual Midwest Clinic, and in 2021, the Chamber Orchestra was an Invited Ensemble at the annual TMEA convention. The Reagan directors, administrators, family and friends are very proud of the hard work and artistry that our young musicians have invested in their program.
