I want to start today’s message with a special thank you to our volunteers.
As we wrap up National Public School Volunteer Week (April 15-19), it’s important to recognize and celebrate your positive impact on our schools and community.
To the PTA members who volunteer at the NEISD Clothes Closet, the Watch DOGS who help during morning drop off, and the volunteers who help make copies and pack weekend snack packs for our students – thank you. When you give of your time, you give the greatest gift of all – and it adds up in ways that may surprise you.
During the 2022-2023 school year, NEISD had 14,000 volunteers who volunteered 500,000 hours across our District. That’s a value of more than $14 million in volunteer time! When you choose to share your time, talent, and passion at our schools, it truly makes a difference.

I also want to share a friendly reminder that early voting starts next week across Bexar County. In-person early voting will take place from April 22 – April 30. You can vote at any early voting location.
There are several items on the May ballot, including five positions for the NEISD Board of Trustees. Your ballot items will depend on where you reside, and you can visit the link on your screen (bexar.org/elections) to find your specific ballot, check to see if you are registered to vote or find an early voting location near you. Election Day is Saturday, May 4.

Al concluir la Semana Nacional del Voluntariado (del 15 al 19 de abril), es importante reconocer y celebrar su impacto positivo en nuestras escuelas y comunidad.
