Parent Message: April 25, 2024
“If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else.”
That quote from Booker T. Washington reminds me of the many people in our community who devote their time and resources to lift up our children, staff and educators.
If you are looking for good news, you don’t have to look very far. Next week, we’ll honor some of the difference makers in our community at the Spring Superintendent’s Awards Ceremony.
We’ll celebrate teachers like Toni Williams, who launched a First Grade Fluency Tutoring program at Serna Elementary School. Each morning before school, fifth grade students help tutor first graders in her classroom as they work to fine-tune their phonics and reading skills.
From working at the spirit shop to offering to mow the grass or haul tree limbs, volunteer Spencer Nye is always willing to lend a helping hand at Redland Oaks Elementary School.
And MacArthur High School senior Kaylen Lembcke organized a volleyball tournament to raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She was able to donate $4,500 by the end of the tournament.
These are just a few examples of the people who go above and beyond normal expectations to make a difference in our schools. Join us next Tuesday, beginning at 4:30 p.m. inside Littleton Gym and help us celebrate all the great things happening in our District.
Don’t forget, tomorrow is a student and staff holiday, so enjoy your long weekend. If you plan on checking out any Fiesta events or parades, get ready to cheer on the amazing bands, spirit groups and students representing NEISD this weekend.

“Si quieres animarte, dale ánimo a alguien más”
Esa cita de Booker T. Washington me recuerda a las muchas personas en nuestra comunidad que dedican su tiempo y recursos para educar a nuestros hijos, personal y educadores.
Si busca buenas nuevas, no tiene que ir muy lejos. La próxima semana, honraremos a algunos de las personas que marcan la diferencia en nuestra comunidad en la Ceremonia de Premiación del Superintendente de la Primavera.
Celebraremos a maestros como Toni Williams, quien lanzó un programa de Tutoría de Fluidez de Primer Grado en la Escuela Primaria Serna. Cada mañana antes de la escuela, los alumnos de quinto grado ayudan a los alumnos de primer grado en su clase mientras trabajan para afinar sus habilidades fonéticas y de lectura.
Desde trabajar en la tienda de espíritu estudiantil hasta ofrecer cortar el césped o transportar ramas de árboles, el voluntario Spencer Nye siempre está dispuesto a echar una mano en la Escuela Primaria Redland Oaks.
Y la estudiante de último año de MacArthur High School, Kaylen Lembcke, organizó un torneo de voleibol para recaudar fondos para la Sociedad de Leucemia y Linfoma. Pudo donar $ 4,500 al final del torneo.
Estos son solo algunos ejemplos de las personas que van más allá de las expectativas normales para marcar la diferencia en nuestras escuelas. Mañana es un día festivo para estudiantes y personal, así que disfrute de su fin de semana largo. Si planeas ver algún evento o desfile de Fiesta, prepárate para animar a las increíbles bandas, grupos de espíritus y estudiantes que representan a NEISD este fin de semana.
