Mr. Dave Terrazas
Dave Terrazas is an El Paso, Texas native who got interested in the culinary arts while serving on active duty in the Air Force, traveling and learning about different cultures; building a knowledge of indigenous cuisines along the way. Dave later became a homeland security and defense analyst, focusing on social networks and civil unrest factors, including hunger and food insecurity. That work influenced Dave to begin a second career as a chef, and he has since worked in various areas of the industry, including fine dining, institutional, emergency and disaster feeding operations, and education. Dave is a farm-to-table advocate, and champions building community resiliency and food security using not only the classroom, but farmer's markets, farms, gardens and kitchens as learning spaces. Dave is a board member of Gardopia Gardens, a local non-profit focused on garden-based learning, operating a main urban home garden campus, as well as over twenty-four campus and community gardens across the San Antonio metro.
